When Dr. B L Kapur, the legendary gynaecologist, obstetrician and philanthropist, moved to India after the partition, he set up a hospital in Ludhiana. In 1956, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru invited him to set up a hospital in the capital city of Delhi, and inaugurated Kapur Hospital in 1959. The hospital soon gained iconic status and became the most sought after hospital in the field of mother and child care.
The present facility of BLK was completely rebuilt and re-christened in 2009 as BLK Super Speciality Hospital- a 700 beded state-of-the-art Super Specialty Tertiary Care facility.
