The Department of Minimal Access Bariatric and Surgical Gastroenterology is devoted exclusively to the surgical care of the stomach and intestines. Our team performs state-of-the-art minimally access surgery (key hole surgery) including hepatobiliary, pancreatic, gastro esophageal, bariatric surgery for weight loss, colorectal, small bowel, portal hypertension, kidney, spleen, major trauma, gall bladder, inguinal and ventral hernias.
We have a dedicated team for weight loss treatment consists of dietician, endocrinologist, psycholists, physiotherapist and physician. The section of Gastrointestinal Metabolic Surgery provides patients with a thorough, individualized plan to treat diabetes, obesity and other metabolic conditions by the use of minimally invasive techniques, such as laparoscopic gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy as well as novel cutting edge procedures. Through small abdominal incisions, these approaches reduce post-operative pain, allow a quick recovery and return to normal daily activity, and improve appearance of abdominal scars.
In the management of our patients, our aim is to provide a high standard of care on the basis of hospital accepted treatment guidelines. Where ever applicable we utilize the endoscopic or laparoscopic method for diagnosis and treatment. We always attempt to be as to be as minimally invasive as possible in our management protocols, striving to provide the best quality of life to our patients but at the same time not compromising on the principles of treatment for each disease.
The department also runs short term laparoscopic training courses in basic and advanced minimal access surgery.
