A TEAM of medical specialists from BLK Super Specialty Hospital in India (BLKSSH) has started an intervention and consultation program in Fiji for urology, orthopedics, neurology, cardiac sciences, spine and kidney transplant.
BLK Dr Aditya Pradhan said they came to Fiji after an invitation from director of Kidney Foundation of Fiji, Dr Joji Malani.
We are part of a multi-specialist centre located at the heart of the Delhi City and amongst the largest and is considered as one of the best hospitals in Delhi, Dr Pradhan said.
This intervention is part of our commitment to take the best of health-care facilities to the countries that lack basic infrastructure and are far behind on the parameters of health facilities.
He said his department dealt with a huge variety of health issues that related to kidney problems.
We do kidney transplant operations, we treat patients of cancer of kidney prostrate bladder, we treat patients with kidney stones.
Our main areas of interest with Kidney Foundation is to help them in their own dialysis program and to promote kidney transplant here.
Dr Malani said BLK Hospital was a relatively new hospital and had risen to become one of the top hospitals in Delhi.
They are ranked in the top three or top five in India, Dr Malani said.
A lot of their surgeries are minimal invasive as they are done through leftose coptic surgeries and the complications are actually quite low.
He said another important factor as to why he chose BLK was because they were affordable.
